Hello!

AMB Pic

I’m Anna – a heritage professional who specialises in storytelling.

With an academic background in history (I have a PhD in Victorian culture!) and over a decade’s experience in content and interpretation, I have worked for museums, media and heritage organisations including:

  • Art UK
  • The National Archives
  • The Royal Parks
  • BBC History
  • BBC Teach
  • The Royal College of Music Museum
  • The Royal Academy of Music Museum
  • The Jewish Museum
  • Ordnance Survey
  • Liverpool Central Library

My work has included:

  • Planning and writing interpretation for both indoor and outdoor venues
  • Scripting, producing and (occasionally!) presenting audio guides, podcasts and short films
  • Audience research
  • Curating exhibitions
  • Planning tours and trails, including wayfinding
  • Writing articles for magazines including Who Do You Think You Are?, BBC History, BBC Music, History Today, Family Tree, Opera and Coast

I have recently been awarded Full Membership of the Association for Heritage Interpretation following an assessment of my portfolio.

As an academic, my research has been funded by the National Portrait Gallery and Princeton University. I have published academic essays on a wide range of topics including gothic fiction, the Georgian stage, Victorian celebrity culture and death masks. I have given talks about my research at many locations – from Oxford University to National Trust properties.

When I’m not in the library, I can usually be found in a graveyard or at a gig.
